Sebastian Inlet Report
10-09-12 TUESDAY: REDS, SNOOK, MANGROVE SNAPPER, SPANISH MACKEREL, FLOUNDER, LADYFISH AND JACKS
This morning winds are blowing out of the North at 6 mph and there is a light chop on the water. It's beautiful at the inlet this morning and fall fishing is some of the best we get all year. Subtle changes for us are bringing big changes to fishing. Our days are getting just a little cooler, days are just a little shorter and we are seeing lots of migrating species in and out of the inlet. The fall mullet run is still in progress and they bring in a good variety of fish to challenge us.
We are seeing a lot of Snook, keepers and oversized, as well as Reds in the slot and those that are exhausting our jetty anglers by just reeling them in. Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, a few Pompano, Blues and a good number of Jacks and Ladyfish have all been making appearances at the inlet.
We received an update from Matt Badolato who fished the inlet last night with his buddy Kevin. The duo brought in a mixed bag of fish. Matt reported Mangrove Snapper attacking greenies along the rocks near the tide pool, but most of the fish they landed were small. Matt and Kevin moved their skiff out near the north jetty and it was Ladyfish and Jack madness! Hundreds of fish were boiling to the surface. They landed and released a 20 lb. Red on a large pilchard.
Our first photo today features Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach with a real pretty C/R 28" Red he landed using cut ladyfish.
Photo three features inlet regular Mike Misserville with a 29" Snook he landed on Sept. 5th. Nice going Mike!
Our fourth photo today is of John Harden and Mike White, both with twin prizes they landed. The Snook were landed in the morning, around 6:30 on bucktails and the Reds were landed around 8:30 on finger mullet.
