Sebastian Inlet Report
10-05-12 FRIDAY: SNOOK, REDS, JACKS, MANGROVE SNAPPER, SPANISH MACKEREL AND A FLOUNDER OR TWO
It's a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the East-Southeast at 9 mph and there is a moderate chop on the water.
Larger silver mullet have taken the place of finger mullet and greenies, so we are seeing the Spanish Mackerel bite slow down from earlier in the week, but of course, that could change at any moment! Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported some Snook, Reds and Jacks coming over the rails of the north jetty, and earlier in the week we had Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper and a Flounder or two to round out the mix. Live shrimp for the Snook has been working well, of course finger mullet or greenies, if you can find them and pinfish are good baits of choice for this time of year. If you are a fan of artificials, Gotcha! lures and weedless spoons will work along with a wire trace to help prevent cutoffs for the hard-hitting Mackerel. CAL Jigs, weedless jerk baits and topwater plugs will work for Reds. Bucktails in the evening hours will usually produce a Snook.
Our photos today feature 2 fly fishermen from the Netherlands who spent a week in Sebastian at Oyster Pointe Resort. For two of the anglers, it was their fourth trip to Sebastian and the other two, it was their first. Hans Guldenaar sent in our photos today and reported they all had a wonderful time fishing our Sebastian waters! All of the men used flies to catch their fish; the men plan to come back again next year.
Photo one features Yme Dikkerboom with a real nice Redfish.
Photo two is of Eric Hehemann with a good sized Ladyfish.
