It's a real pretty morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southeast at 7 mph and the water is calm.
We're starting to see Spanish Mackerel in good numbers move into the inlet and live greenies have been the bait of choice. Mike Ricciardi gave us an update on yesterday's activities and reported Macks feeding on the bait fish on the ocean side of the north jetty yesterday. Mike, Diane Buyce and a couple of other inlet regulars landed 25 - 30 Mackerel in the 18" - 24" range. Mike landed a good sized Mackerel that was 26" and he is featured in our first photo today. Small to medium sized Jacks dominated the catch for many on the north jetty. Mike also reported the morning was slow for Snook and Reds, although Don Weller of Sebastian landed an oversized Red about 10:00 a.m. Mike also saw a slot Snook caught around 7:00 a.m., but that was it for the morning. Several Mangrove Snapper and one Atlantic Spadefish came over the rails as well. Mike advises to "be prepared to lose 2 - 3 times as many Mackerel as you catch, and bring plenty of long shank hooks"!

Meir Ganon is featured in photo 2. Meir was at the inlet with his family and convinced his boys to come out of the tide pool and fish for few hours prior to heading back to Deerfield Beach. Meir got lucky when he landed the 24" Flounder. Meir estimated it weighed between 7 - 8 lbs.
