08-30-12 THURSDAY: REDFISH, BLACK DRUM, JACKS, BLUEFISH AND CATFISH
It's another beautiful morning at the Sebastian Inlet. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southwest at 6 mph and the water is calm. The water is dark with run-off, but the fish are biting!
We received an update from inlet regular Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach who fished the north jetty from 11:00 -2:30. Mike reported the bite had picked up significantly. Mike netted mojarra and mullet for bait, but it turned out that the mojarra worked best for the Redfish. Mike said about 30 Reds came over the rails. Mike landed 7, 5 were slot sized and 2 were just under 18", he kept one and released the others. Mike also landed a big Snook that was about 35", which was released unharmed. Four Black Drum were landed in the 20 - 23" range, all on dead shrimp. There were also quite a few Jacks, Bluefish and Catfish landed

Photo two is of Walton Malcolm who is also known as "Jamaican John" to the locals. Walton landed the Black Drum using dead shrimp.

Mangrove Snapper are being found on the flats. A lot of mullet are in the water, all sizes.
Our photo is of Chris Gladney with four 13" Mangrove Snapper he landed from 1:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m., using live shrimp.
