06-25-12 MONDAY: REDS, MANGROVE SNAPPER, POMPANO AND SPANISH MACKEREL
The dreary skies continue; it's overcast and raining at the inlet this morning. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southeast at 15 mph with gusts to 20. There is a good chop on the water on the inlet side, but on the north side, we have smoother conditions and even have a few surfers in the water this morning, taking advantage of a small swell. As always; use caution when casting into the surfing area when surfers are present. There is a small craft advisory in effect through Tuesday afternoon, always check the coastal forecast prior to going offshore.
We didn't have a whole lot of action over the weekend, although a couple of folks got out in the wind and rain and fished. Tommy of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported more anglers were out on Saturday than Sunday and some over sized Reds were landed, Mangrove Snapper, a few Pompano and Spanish Mackerel, but nothing in large numbers.
We received an update from Simeon Coleman who was one of those weather-proof anglers who fished yesterday. Simeon fought 20+ mph winds and rain and ended up with the 26" slot Red in our first photo today. Simeon also reported quite a few Mangrove Snapper coming over the rails as well, but overall fishing was on the slow side.
