It's another beautiful day at the inlet. Overcast skies are keeping the temperatures down but they also bring a good chance of rain today. Go prepared if you head to the inlet. There is no wind at the inlet this morning but every now and then, we will have a little breeze out of the Northeast.
We have a lot of surfers in the water this morning, taking advantage of a small swell at first peak. As always, please use caution when casting off the north side of the north jetty when surfers are present.
Sam Terpening wrote in with an update from the north jetty activities on. Sam and his friend Joey were fishing off the north jetty when Joey hooked up with the enormous Goliath Grouper in our first photo today. They estimated the Goliath to be in the 300 lb range. Goliath Grouper should never be out of the water long enough to photograph. That is why these young men got down from the jetty in order to keep the fish in the water. The big fish was released right after the photo.
Sam spotted some croakers in the surf and waded out to his chest and netted about 50 of them. They were used to land some big C/R Snook which were biting good that night in the rain.
Our last photo today features (L-R) Russ Terpening, Jack Nehs and Sam Terpening with some decent sized Spanish Mackerel they landed off the north jetty last using greenies.
