Just maybe this should be a rain report or maybe something about the
wind but this is a fishing report. Rain or the threat of rain had us all
week watching the clouds and waiting, yes it did rain but this is Jensen
and if it did rain is was short and not as it was called for.
Now the wind, it was out of the east all week, some times more that
others but it was blowing. So it was the east side of the river with its
sheltered shore line or the North Fork that drew attention.
Little Mud Creek , with its sheltered shore line, close proximity to the
boat ramp and the shelter of the bridge was the spot. Excellent Trout on
top water, Reds on suspending baits and Flounder on jigs were some of
the catch list. All day bite, the over cast sky kept the water temps under control and the bait in the shallows. All so on the catch list was a good bite of Jacks and Blue fish, not sure of these Blues but they were a hungry group taking most bait home with them. Tarpon were south in the channel going to Big Mud Creek and the Snook know their season is closed ate about any thing you put in the water. North Fork it was about the same, putting in at Sports Mans Park and running south but no quite to Club Med, great sheltered run with a tree shoreline just no as many Blues but they were there also. Wind was the problem, looking for flat water. Tarpon,, put in at the Prima Vista boat ramp and start fishing, not big Tarpon but plenty of Tarpon, trick is, what are they chewing today. Surf was a hard call, changed daily, east wind. High surf kept the temps cool so we had a few Pompano make the catch list, lots of Blue Fish and plenty of Whiting and Croakers. Whiting and Croakers were take home size, to big to use for bait but you know how I feel, big bait big fish. If you have the time and equipment put a big bait out, just do not wonder to far from that rod because a big fish will take it for sure, any thing that can eat that big bait can take the equipment home, pay attention. Snook Bite is excellent, if they are your target take the
barbs off the hooks and Tarpon made the list, finally, Bath Tub Beach south to the inlet, live bait.
