Sebastian Inlet Report
06-05-12 TUESDAY: SPANISH MACKEREL, MANGROVE SNAPPER, PERMIT, JACKS, AND C/R SNOOK
We have a beautiful morning at the inlet. Skies are overcast, keeping the temperature down this morning and the water is clean and calm. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 6 mph.
We received an update from inlet regular Sam Terpening of Palm Bay on yesterday's late afternoon activities off the north jetty, where he was fishing. Sam reported an enormous school of croakers came through the inlet, probably about 7,000. Sam said he'd never seen a sunset bite like it in the 15 years he's been fishing. Tarpon up to 100 lbs, Cobia in the 40 - 50 lb range that were too smart to bite, and Snook were everywhere. Sam and a friend hooked up with 10 Snook between them, every time their baits hit the water, they had a Snook or lost one free lining. The Snook were so big, they were bending the hooks straight. Sam and Russ released all their Snook unharmed.
Photo one features Sam Terpening with a 40" C/R Snook landed on a croaker.
Photo two is of brothers with a double hook-up that wouldn't have been possible without the help of two other brothers, with drop nets and helped bring in the two Snook and the same time!
