Sebastian Inlet Report

05-16-12 WEDNESDAY: ATLANTIC SPADEFISH, SPANISH MACKEREL, SPOTS, SNOOK AND REDS

We have another overcast morning at the inlet, but it is beautiful. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 4 mph and the water is very calm.

We received an update from inlet regular Diane Buyce of Melbourne who reported on yesterday's north jetty activities. She had a couple of chances at Snook at slack tide and was pretty sure the first one was in the slot, but he ran by the rocks for one last run and cut the line. Tony Swiderski of Sebastian landed the only keeper Snook of the morning. Diane fished several different spots for bottom fish and ended up with several small Atlantic Spadefish and a Chub. Diane also reported a couple of guys fishing from a boat were hooking up with Reds and Snook using croakers, but were fishing a little close to the jetty and kept getting tangled with the shore based anglers. Quite a few glass minnows were around the jetty and probably Spanish Mackerel, but she had no luck with them.
