From Capt. Charlie @ Fishing Center - Ft. Pierce

The winds are calming down, but the rainy season began this week bringing much needed water to the Treasure Coast.

Look for trout to be in two to five feet of water.  Using top water, DOA shrimp, CAL jerk baits and live baits, you should find some nice sized ones.  Bear Point, Harbor Branch and the east shoreline south of Fort Pierce are great areas to begin.  We found our redfish under the docks this week.  DOA shrimp and live bait can find one for you.  The snook bite around the jetties at night has been fair this week using feather jigs and live baits.  The spillways will be very active with the recent rains.  A rootbeer DOA TerrorEyz is a great lure to use around those areas.

The surf will hold whiting and the bridges will have sheephead, snapper and a few black drum.  Live or dead shrimp are good around the bridges.  There are a few tarpon showing up around the inlets and along the beach and it should only improve now.  Offshore is getting underway now that the winds are subsiding and boaters can get out on the ocean.  It's gonna be a good season! May is always a great month to enjoy the fishing!
