05-04-12 FRIDAY: BLUES, LADYFISH, SHEEPSHEAD, SPANISH MACKEREL, REDS, SEA TROUT AND SNOOK
It's a little overcast at the inlet this morning, but the wind has calmed down some. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southeast at 8 mph and there is a light chop on the water. The forecast is calling for a pretty good weekend; seas should lie down to 1- 2'. There is a chance of rain, always check the coastal forecast prior to venturing offshore.
Fishing is picking up a little. There is a lot of bait fish in the water and we've seen fish chasing them, and over the past few days they've started cooperating with the anglers. We're seeing Blues on the outgoing tide, particularly in the evenings, along with Ladyfish. Reds, big Jacks and Snook have been more active during the evening as well. During the day, small but keeper Sheephead, Spot Porgy's, Blues, Sea Trout and a few Flounder have been landed.
Our first angler of the day is Ben Monroe. Ben landed this beautiful Sea Trout and two others about the same size off the south jetty rocks yesterday. Ben was using soft plastics and was fishing the low tide east of the catwalk between 12:30 - 1:30. He reported lots of finger mullet schoolingin the area.
Our next two photos is of Skip Stowers of Kissimmee. with this SUPER SIZED RED. He was fishing the inlet at night when this monster hit his bait........
