Sebastian Inlet Report

03-06-12 TUESDAY: POMPANO, SEA TROUT, BLUES, JACKS, SHEEPSHEAD,

There is a mix of sun and clouds over the inlet this morning. Winds are blowing out of the Northeast at 9 mph and the water is calm. Forecasts are calling for increased wind and possible rain this afternoon.
Yesterday, fishing was fair off the north jetty according to Tommy of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop. A variety of fish were landed that included some nice Pompano, Sheepshead and Sea Trout, some small Jacks and Blues and a few Reds, Snook and Flounder. Shrimp remains the bait of choice for everything except the Pompano, fresh or frozen clams are working well for that species.

The trio from Orlando made it back to the inlet Friday night, Nam, Phillip and Thang. Nam and Phillip were determined to redeem themselves from their prior visit and they did just that. Phillip landed three nice Sea Trout and a few Blues and Nam landed the 24.5", 4 lb Sea Trout in photo one. Nam was using a swimbait on the outgoing tide to land this beautiful Trout. This time Thang got skunked, that's why they call it fishing, guys!
Our next angler is 7 year old Liam with a Sheepshead he landed using live shrimp. Liam and his family have been fishing the inlet all week and so far, Liam has landed more than a dozen Sheepshead! Liam's mom , said that he has been catching their dinners!
