From Capt. Henry @ SNOOK-NOOK Jensen Beach

March came in like a Lyon, lots of wind, strong wind but the sun is shining bright so as long as you are not fishing it is pretty nice, but fishing ugh. Wind and more wind has kept boats tied to the dock. Four to seven foot seas depending on the day, wind to 35 mph from several directions does not make for an angling day or you could buy a bigger boat then all would be confortable. The strong seas have slowed many anglers down the only up side is waiting for it to calm, the temp lines will be there the weeds and all the rest will be active and the trick is to be there. That upper layer will cool and filled with every species but it just seems I may not live that long, wind.
Surf is no different, big seas will keep all anglers away a few will go and find fish but it is hard to stand there with the gale force wind blowing. this will lower those temps and bring in the Pompano, Blues and Mac’s now when is the question.
River anglers have had a great week fishing the flat water, lots of Trout and big I may mention, fish that shallow water they are on the edge. In these conditions the bait will go to the less turbid water and then the predators will push them into the shallows, start early, top water preferred and cast to the shallowest working your baits back. We have had a long catch list, Trout, Blues, Pompano, Drum and the list goes on. Weather you are fishing at Bear Point or the Sail Flats the Flat water is the key and do not over look the North Fork of the St Lucie river, very sheltered, flat water. Snook Fishing has been busy, the Roosevelt Bridge has a lot of big fish, to fish this area bring out the big tackle, big fish no keepers but serious fish, where is your camera? Other bridges have seen quiet a few keepers, low light, lots of current and a bait that will get to the bottom, bait stops set the hook. That is the great part of our area, no matter the conditions there is always a place to get a bait wet, till next week, does any one know a weather man that will turn off the wind?.................................
