LOOKING AROUND
Pompano have been along the beaches almost everywhere it's just a case of being at the right place at the right time. From Hobie Sound to Lake Worth, I'm getting reports of fish being caught ........ You just have to go out and hit a few spots to catch fish, if they aren't bitting in one spot move down the beach to another. Pompano fishermen never take a chair to the beach they know pomps move always looking for food..... There has been Mackerel around, they are following the small bait schools that are showing up. The bridges at night are holding snook, look for the bridges that have lights that cause a nice shadow line ---""""NOTE Lantana Bridge Is Closed for a while""" ------ Boynton Jetty south side has been good, check out the new pier at Snook Island, it should be a snook hot spot but it may close at 12 midnight?? Reports of pompano, spanish mackerel, bluefish, whiting and croacker at Juno Pier with a few snook and cobia on the side.
03-30-12 FRIDAY: TGIF!
We have another beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 6 mph and the water has a light chop. We have a beautiful weekend forecasted with seas from 1 - 2' but always check the coastal forecast prior to venturing offshore as things can change quickly. Use caution when navigating the channel near the dredge. We are dredging the sand trap west of the bridge.
According to Walton Ray at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop, Don Weller of Sebastian was the luckiest guy out on the north jetty with back to back Snook catches, one undersized and one keeper, way to go Donnie!! There were a few Flounder, Black Drum and Pompano, about the same as the past few days.
Our first photo features Sam Terpening and his dad, Russell of Palm Bay with some of the nicest Flounder we've seen in a while. The duo landed these nice fish off the north jetty on using finger mullet.

03-29-12 THURSDAY: SPORADIC CATCHES OF BLACK DRUM, FLOUNDER AND POMPANO
What a gorgeous morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Northwest at 2 mph and the water has a light chop. If the wind stays out of the WNW and picks up a little, we could see a small swell for the surfers out there. Please use caution when casting off the north side of the north jetty. Fish are there almost every day, waves aren't. Play nice and share the space.Yesterday, the bite was slow for some, but those anglers with finger mullet did well with Flounder off the north jetty. A few nice Pompano, a couple of large Black Drum and a few Spots came over the rails.
Our first photo is of Conrado Ramos of Kissimmee with a beautiful 31 3/4" Snook he landed off the north jetty.
Father and son and inlet regulars Jim and John Jeffers of Melbourne fished the north jetty on Tuesday and cleaned up on Flounder using live finger mullet and shrimp. John reported a slow bite in the early morning, but they prevailed with six nice Flounder but lost seven that spit the hook! Photo two is of the Jeffers' Flounder on the cleaning table, getting ready to become dinner!
Sonny Advincula of Kissimmee is featured in our third photo today with a couple of real nice Pompano he landed using clams.
Our fourth photo is of Dan Waldren with an enormous Tarpon he landed at night using a bucktail off the south jetty. He estimated this Tarpon to be in somewhere between 40 - 60 lbs and 60" long.

LOOKING AROUND
I was at the Boynton Beach Jetty Tuesday evening. Reports of a few snook being caught on both sides. The south side is better at night with a outgoing tide using a flare hawk jigs. The North doing the day, sight fishing between the pylons using shrimp. I also saw a nice size flounder caught on the north side fishing for snook with shrimp. Iv'e only seen 3-4 flounder ever caught at Boynton.
A few nights ago I hooked into a 50-60lb Tarpon using this 3inch soft plastic.....
03-28-12 WEDNESDAY: SNOOK, FLOUNDER, LADYFISH, JACKS, POMPANO AND SEA TROUT
This morning winds are blowing out of the Southeast at 10 mph and gusting to 15. There is a small craft advisory in effect for seas.
Mike of Vero Beach was back out on the north jetty and reported plenty of Ladyfish and Jacks in the early morning hours from 6:00 - 9:00, but no Snook. Several nice Pompano were landed during that time frame along with 5 - 6 large Flounder that were taking finger mullet. About 10:00, the Snook started biting but only one was a slot fish and the rest were oversized and returned. A couple of the Snook were landed on pinfish, which is a switch from the live shrimp they've been taking.
Our first photo today features Dario Torres of Bay Village, OH, he has been trying to learn as much about saltwater fishing as possible and by the looks of this Trout; it looks like he has it wired. The Sea Trout in photo one was landed off the north catwalk on a bomber plug and weighed six pounds! Dario also landed a slot Snook that evening.
Our second photo today is of Steve Cochrane of Mt. Dora. Steve landed the C/R 34.5" Snook off the south jetty using a bucktail. The Snook was released right after the photo.
Photo three features Jordan Acosta and Noel Batista. The duo fished all night and were rewarded with two nice Trout, a Black Drum and a slot Snook.
From Whites Tackle- Ft. Pierce
Inshore, yesterday was a good day for spanish mackerel catches off the south jetty in Ft. Pierce. Anglers there saw plenty of action using small size gotchas and silver spoons. The south jetty has been a good spot to find some decent snook fishing after sunset. Red tail hawk type jigs and pinfish have been getting the job done at the jetty and along the inlet. Trout and redfish remain strong for the spring time flats fishing. Top water lures and live bait are best for gator size trout this time of year.

03-27-12 TUESDAY: SNOOK, BLACK DRUM, SEA TROUT, SHEEPSHEAD, LADYFISH, JACKS AND REDS
It's another beautiful morning at the Sebastian Inlet. Winds are blowing out of the East at 12 mph and there is a moderate chop on the water. We are dredging the sand trap west of the bridge. Please use caution when navigating around the dredge site.
Mike of Vero Beach fished the north jetty yesterday morning and reported that Ladyfish and Jacks plagued the bite before dawn, but after first light, hungry Snook got into the mix. Mike had one that broke off but was successful on the second one, a keeper at 32". There were 2 -3 other slot Snook that came over the rails and 5 - 6 others that were over/under or break offs. A couple of nice Black Drum were landed by those fishing for Snook. Mike left the jetty with his "prize" at 8:45 a.m.
Tommy of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported the Black Drum bite continued through the afternoon and couple of fish in the 30 lb range came over the rails! We're seeing Sheepshead, Flounder, a few Reds and lots of good sized Sea Trout, particularly in the evenings.
Our photo features Hank Christianson of Idaho with a good sized Pompano he landed off the north jetty using clams.
Our next photo today is of inlet regular Tony Swiderski of Sebastian with a slot Red and a nice Black Drum Friday morning.
From Whites Tackle- Ft. Pierce
Inshore, reports of some good trout fishing are coming in the shop from all over the lagoon. Top water lures, soft plastics, and live shrimp will get you good results. Snook fishing in the inlet over the last few days has been good on red tail hawk type jigs. The trick to fishing those jigs is to keep them as close to the bottom with out hanging them up on a rock. Snapper fishing from the cat walk of the south bridge has been good on live shrimp. There have been a few reports of redfish scattered across the lagoon. This is good time of year to pull out your fly rod and cast to the redfish, trout and snook that are cruising the flats. We have an excellent stock of flies and fly tying materials for you to choose from.

Fish Humor
I was born up north in the D.C./Maryland area and I have some friends who like talking trash......
Stripper this - Stripper That.....I'll take a Stripper over any fish. But when I ask them whats so Special about Stripper they can't really say. Then I thought about this list I found on (Shallowfish.com) sometime ago about my favorite fish.
I had to brake it down to my buddies up North.

Inshore, one angler early this morning reported a good catch of mangrove snapper off the catwalk on live shrimp. Trout fishing in the lagoon remains strong in out of the weather areas. Live shrimp and soft plastics have been producing good catches of trout all week long. Remember this is the best time of the year for gator size trout on the flats using top water lures early in the morning, usually around the docks or in skinny water. Surf fishing has been a little difficult with all the in your face wind. Conditions in the surf have included stirred up grass and rough and dirty seas.
From Capt. Charlie @ Fishing Center Ft. Pierce
Lots of great fishing action around the river this week along the Treasure Coast. March continues in its normal windy fashion, but you can generally find plenty of areas to fish and stay out of the worst of it. We have had a lot of fun this month and the coming week should provide us with lots more fishing adventures on the river.
Trout continued to be our best bite this week. We fished north of Fort Pierce just about the entire week due to the windy conditions and found trout hanging around Queen's Cove, Harbor Branch and Round Island. Live bait or CAL jerk baits have been successful for us. We have also found a variety of other species out on the flats as well. Mangrove snapper, bluefish, jacks and ladyfish have kept us busy in between the trout bites.
We finally got down south to some of the docks and found redfish, flounder and sheephead hanging under some of the docks. Some friends caught five reds along with sheephead and a nice flounder from the docks. The Spanish mackerel have been coming in on the rising tides and filling up the turning basin. Small shiny jigs have helped us to catch some nice sized macks. You can also find lots of jacks around the same area.
The winds will continue for a while longer, but the fishing has been good. Lots of sunshine with some mixed in rain clouds this week have made it wonderful to enjoy the water.

If you want to make a surf angler smile just say the wind is from the west and watch that smile. Pompano and more Pompano from Ft.Pierce to Jupiter lots of happy
anglers, limit catch's were reported all day, fish 13”minimum and the max was over the top with a Permit mixed in to keep the smiles going. Favored baits were shrimp, clams and sand fleas, clams toped the list and not to many sharks were reported. Best times were when you got there, distance to cast, where ever you could but the best was up close, lots of Pompano. Yes there was some Blues but Pompano was the target, this run has been the one anglers have been looking for and there was no disappointment. Snook, Whiting and Croaker were on the edge but it was Pompano that took the show, not sure big whiting, Pompano?
River anglers take your pick east side or west we have fish, lots of fish. Reds were thick on the west side (Walton rd.) with a mix of Trout and the east side it was Trout with a few Reds. Soft rubber baits were preferred, suspending baits for the Reds a bait they can get on top of was the secret. To many Snook, if you are looking for a keeper try the causeways, all monsters at the Roosevelt. East end of the Stuart bridges has been a great location, low light is the key no matter the area, Flair Hawks is the Bait. Yes, Pompano have been skipping from north to south just have no idea what to feed them but one thing for sure there is plenty. Jacks, Blues, Mac’s and Lady fish continue to keep anglers busy so no matter your method there is plenty to bend a rod........come on down...................................HENRY

03-26-12 MONDAY: SNOOK, BLACK DRUM, POMPANO, JACKS, LADYFISH, BLUES, SEA TROUT AND SHEEPSHEAD
It's a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 7 mph and there is a light chop on the water. There is a small craft advisory for the Gulf Stream today through this evening.
Tommy Turowski of the Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported that the weekend brought a good variety of species to our inlet anglers. Black Drum were hitting heavy on Sunday, but Saturday was the better day as far as variety goes. We saw Sheepshead, Ladyfish, Jacks, Snook, Reds, Flounder and Sea Trout. This morning there was a pretty good Snook bite.
We received an update from inlet regular Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach who fished the north jetty and reported that early morning several good sized Pompano were landed along with a couple of Whiting. Throughout the morning the Snook were biting, and 8 - 10 slot fish came over the rails along with a couple of big Sea Trout, Black Drum and a Redfish
Benjie of Kissimmee fished the inlet, a big day for Pomps. More than 2 dozen were landed in the afternoon hours.
Our first photo is of Merly with two Pompano she landed using clams.
Photo two is of J. R. of Kissimmee with a nice Black Drum and a real big Pompano.
Our last features Jay of Kissimmee with a 24" Black Drum he landed on shrimp.

03-23-12 FRIDAY: POMPANO, BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, WHITING AND JACKS
Winds have died down a little today. This morning it's blowing out of the South at 8 -10 mph and there is a moderate chop on the water. There are no small craft advisories this morning, but always check the coastal forecast prior to going offshore.
In honor of Spring Break, today we are featuring young people who have been fishing the inlet this week. They've been real troopers, even when it's been slow! Our first four photos are students who have been enjoying their breaks at the inlet.
Our first photo today features Andree Dumitrescu of the Orlando area who landed this nice Black Drum off the north jetty.
Photo two features 13 year old Angel Thomas of Altamonte Springs who was fishing the north jetty when he landed this big Black Drum using live shrimp.
Photo three is John Shaffer of Orange City with two nice Black Drum he landed.
Our last photo today is of Maribel Irizarry of Kissimmee with a beautiful 8.5 lb doormat she landed off the south jetty.

03-22-12 THURSDAY: A FEW POMPANO, BLACK DRUM, WHITING AND SHEEPSHEAD
It's another pretty morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southeast at 15 mph and the water is choppy. Forecasts are calling for potential rain, so go prepared if you head to the inlet. There is a small craft advisory for seas.
Yesterday morning was slow, windy and cloudy on the north jetty. The water was rough and lines were being tangled quite a bit. Everybody played nice and did the "untangle" dance with style and grace. It was obvious that a few folks had done that dance before. Pompano came over the rails in the largest numbers, although they were few and far between. A couple of Whiting, three good sized Black Drum, a couple of keeper Sheepshead and lots of small ones, and one big Jack came over the rails, but that was it for the morning. There wasn't one Snook bite, not even a nibble. The sun came out around 12:30 but it didn't seem to improve the fishing. Walton at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported this morning there are a lot of small Sheepshead being caught and returned, but every now and then, a keeper will show up. So far it looks like a repeat from yesterday.
Our first photo today is of Mike White of Sebastian who landed his beautiful 31 3/4" Snook using shrimp on the end of the morning outgoing tide.
The other photo features Chris of Leesburg with a good sized Whiting he landed off the north jetty yesterday morning using clams.

03-21-12 WEDNESDAY: SNOOK, POMPANO, SHEEPSHEAD, REDS, BLACK DRUM, BLUES, JACKS AND LADYFISH
Hang onto your fishing hats; it's a windy morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southeast at 18 mph and the water is churned up. There is a small craft advisory in effect.
We got an update from Mike of Vero Beach who was on the north jetty and reported the early morning Snook bite from 6:00 - 8:00 consisted of 5 slot fish and another 8 - 10 that were oversized or didn't make it over the rails. Mike landed a C/R beauty at 36". Live shrimp remains the best choice for bait. Pompano started biting around 10:00 a.m. and about 8 - 10 fish were landed by noon. Clams were producing well. Several good sized Whiting, a few small Sheepshead, and a mixture of Jacks, Blues and Ladyfish. One nice Spot and a Margate came over the rails as well.
Savi of Kissimmee reported that the Snook bite was good the other night. Ladyfish were also very active. Savi landed a 29" Snook using live shrimp. Savi said it was a great night and really made her spring break!

Inshore, trout fishing reports have been good over the last few days on live pilchards. Sam Crutchfield reported catches of gator sized trout in various spots around the lagoon yesterday morning. Snook are cruising the flats along with redfish and are taking Mister Twister Exude darts and DOA Cal minnows. Snook fishing from the south jetty was a little slower over night with strong easterly breezes making conditions difficult.

Get Hooked Up #1
The Bait Fish will be showing up soon with all this warm weather.
Here are a few tips on how to rig your live bait
From Capt. Henry @ SNOOK-NOOK Jensen Beach
A week of wind but a week of sun shine, lots of anglers and lots of fish, from all locations. We had an excellent week
Surf has been Blues and Pompano, first blues on cut baits then when that slowed it was Pompano and when that slowed the Blues were back. Three to five pound Blue fish bent a lot of rods and then Pompano on clams and sand fleas, nice size pompano and mix in a permit, the surf was the place.
From the bridges it was Blues, Pompano, plenty of Jacks and mix in the Sheephead, Drum and few Trout, it has been a busy week at the bridges. Again this week we were fishing that east side of the river looking for flat water, lots of bait in the river and lots of over slot Trout a few Reds but lots of Blues and Jacks to keep the rod bent. Shallow, 18'” of water is where you needed to fish. Looking for Pompano in the North Fork, one day they are on the east side the next on the west.

From Whites Tackle- Ft. Pierce
Inshore, Billy Briggs reported catching a 5# flounder from the south jetty in Ft. Pierce on live shrimp yesterday. Trout, snook and redfish continue to dominate the lagoon over the last few days. Trout caught on DOA shrimp, green with red glitter color. Bear Point and south on the East side have been producing some good trout and redfish catches. Snook were caught in the turning basin and off the south jetty last night on red tail hawk type jigs and live pinfish.
Coming soon to our shop and web-site is an exciting Bass fishing department. If you have any special request for lures, please let us know and we will put them into inventory for you.

INSHORE
Trout and Redfish continue to be the bite of the week! Fish around spoil islands, in 3-4 feet of water!! Around the structures some Snook are being caught, but mostly sheepshead! Use live shrimp for either!! Fishers off the Wabasso bridge have been catching pompano with doc's goofy jigs (color of the week is green)!!
INLET
The trout are showing up in the Inlet and in numbers.
On the outgoing tide, the Bluefish are biting silver spoons.
Jacks are hungry and are biting almost anything!! Black drum has been
the catch of the week, use live shrimp or clams. The consistent catch
is around 5-8lbs, but there have been a few over that!! Snook arebiting in the early morning, use live shrimp or buck tails! Pompano are also biting, as always use doc's goofy jigs (color of the week is green)! If your looking for whiting, fish the south side with live shrimp!!
**Shrimp are running in the Inlet!!**
SURF
Along the beach, there continues to be a Pompano bite. As always, we suggest using Doc's Goofy; this weeks hot color is Green. For a little more action when it comes to fishing doc's goofy jigs, put a piece of clam on the tip of the hook!!Bluefish and Whiting have also been reported along the beach!! For Bluefishuse silver spoons, and make sure you have a strong enough liter!! Whiting are biting live shrimp, particularly on the bottom!!
From Capt. Charlie @ Fishing Center Ft. Pierce
Windy days and some scattered rain showers....it must still be March! The weather continues in the normal March fashion and you can expect more blustery days ahead. The temperatures still are fantastic and so is the fishing out there. We have been able to get out most days and use the winds to our advantage in finding and catching fish.
The snook bite has been good for the night anglers using feather jigs and live bait around the jetties, docks and bridges of the inlet. There have been some big jacks cruising around the turning basin this week.
The surf has produced whiting, pompano and bluefish this week on clams, sand fleas and shrimp for the beach anglers. We still have a few weeks of windy days to endure, but you can still find plenty of places to fish in spite of what mother nature blows our way. Have fun and get out fishing!
Trout continues to be the best bite on the river for us. We have fished both north and south of Fort Pierce with good success on most of the usual flats. Harbor Branch & Queen's Cove to the north and Bear Point & the west shoreline to the south are some of the better spots for us this week. Duncan Haley was down from Virginia and we caught over thirty trout in three to five feet of water on DOA CAL jerk baits, 419, 416 and 407 colors. I like a 1/16 oz. jig head to keep it from digging into the grass.
Our redfish have come from some of the docks along Indian River Drive this week. When the winds allow you to fish that side of the river, you can find lots of different species hanging around them. Sheephead, snapper, sea trout and other hungry fish will be hanging under the docks this time of year. The snook bite has been good for the night anglers using feather jigs and live bait around the jetties, docks and bridges of the inlet. There have been some big jacks cruising around the turning basin this week.

03-19-12 MONDAY: SNOOK, SHEEPSHEAD, POMPANO, FLOUNDER, BLACK DRUM, REDS AND SEA TROUT
It's another pretty morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the South-Southeast at 10 mph and there is a moderate chop on the water.
We received an update from inlet regular Mike Ricciardi who fished the north jetty, Mike reported an early morning Snook bite that produced 7 slot Snook and at least that many that never made it over the rails. Anglers using live shrimp at the end of the outgoing tide fared well. Mike arrived late at 6:45 a.m. and had no shrimp, so he could only be envious! Mike had clams and did well with the Pompano, as did Diane of Melbourne. Mike landed 5 and Diane landed 4, both anglers were using clams but sand fleas and shrimp also produced Pompano. About 15 - 20 Pompano were landed on the morning outgoing tide.
Tommy Turowski provided a weekend update and reported a good variety of fish landed. Some real nice Flounder, big Sea Trout, Snook, Sheepshead, Reds and Black Drum all were in play. Sunday, Monster Hole was holding a lot of Spinner Sharks and Tommy reported that they put on quite a show, jumping around.
Our first photo todayis of Dave of Sebastian with a nice slot Red.
Photo two is of Mike and Diane with their nice Pompano catches.
From Whites Tackle- Ft. Pierce
Inshore, fishing in the lagoon has been steady for trout, snook and redfish. Quite a few reports of gator size trout catches have been coming from all areas of the lagoon. Redfish reports have been coming from northern St. Lucie County on Mister Twister Exude Darts. Flounder reports from the south jetty in Ft. Pierce have also been steady from anglers using live shrimp and jigs. Snook fishing has been good after sunset into the wee hours of the morning on red tail hawk type jigs.

From Billy Bones Bait & Tackle-Stuart / Port St. Lucie
There seems to be a lot of Ribbon Fish in the river this year I have been told its a sign of cleaning water . I am hearing of a good Snook bite at the Causeways and at Ft Pierce's south bridge on Jig n Shrimp and the real Snookers are using Flair Hawks and First Light jigs we have had ordered for over 3 weeks I guess they are backed up but the GOOD NEWS is We are Getting more right now as I type !!!
The fishing in the river has been a lot better considering the spring mullet run has started early . Try top water lures early or late in the day. The Rapala X walks have been catching a good mess of the snook, redfish and trout being caught .. Here they are in case you don"t know I caught the 48 inch Snook in the picture in the North Store on a Sub Walk ..
There also has been a large amount of Trout caught when the sun comes up on the Bass Assassins swim baits and Doa Cal Tails . Try Shrimp and a Popping Cork for awesome results when its slow its always good to switch to Bait because most of the time it will put a bend in your rod. Hey I hear there are more Pompano out there biting now on the Docs Goofy Jigs . Its still slow just a poor Pompano year for us. Vic Rivera pulled it off I think with Rodney's topwater hand made," Tater Bug" Yes , Vic caught a Pompano almost 18 inchs, ON A TOP WATER LURE !!!
03-16-12 FRIDAY: SHEEPSHEAD, SNOOK, BLACK DRUM, REDS, FLOUNDER, SEA TROUT, JACKS AND BLUES
It's a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the East at 7 mph and there is a moderate chop on the water. Unfortunately a lot of seaweed has moved in, making it difficult to fish some areas. We have a beautiful weekend forecasted, get out and do a little fishing and send us your updates and photos!
We received an update from inlet regular Mike of Vero Beach who was on the north jetty. Two slot sized Snook were landed in the early morning hours as the tide turned from incoming to outgoing. A couple of Black Drum were landed on the tip of the jetty on live shrimp. Mike was fishing for Pompano using clams and landed two keepers and one short. There were a total of 8 - 10 Pompano landed during his time on the jetty. Anglers were using sand fleas, shrimp, clams and jigs for the Pompano, but clams were the most successful.
Tommy of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported a good Flounder bite on the flats this morning another angler was in the shop and reported he had landed four early this morning. Sea Trout remain active on the flats as well.
Christopher fished the beach earlier and his first fish of the day was the big 36" C/R Red in our photo today. The Red was released unharmed right after the photo.

Sebastian Inlet Report
03-15-12 THURSDAY: SLOW BITE
This morning winds are blowing out of the East at 3 mph and there is a moderate chop on the water.
We received an update from inlet regular Diane of Melbourne who fished the north jetty reported a very slow morning. Diane arrived on the jetty at 5:00 a.m. and at noon, still had not had a bite. Early in the morning there was a short window for Snook. Three keepers came over the rails in a one hour time frame along with several hook ups and break offs. A few lucky anglers landed some pretty nice sized Pompano and Sheepshead. Ladyfish were plentiful. An unknown angler had two good sized Flounder at the cleaning table that he had landed off the north side rocks.
The first photo features one of the lucky ones, Jim of Melbourne Beach with a couple of decent sized Pompano he landed yesterday morning. Jim landed them using clams.
