01-11-12 WEDNESDAY: THE BITE IS SLOW This morning winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 10 mph and it's overcast at the inlet. We have a good chance of rain today which may usher in a slight cold front. Hopefully the jolt of cooler weather will help pick up the bite as it seems to have slowed down quite a bit. We received an update from inlet regular Mike who was out on the north jetty yesterday and reported a very slow bite. The only fish worth photographing on the north jetty was Rich 23.5" Black Drum in our first photo today. Those who have fished the flats have had pretty good luck with Seat Trout according to Walton of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop. Shrimp and small live fish are good naturals baits but most anglers use artificials and do well. Streamers, topwater plugs, swimming plugs and poppers work well for Sea Trout. The second photo is of Ponce, who landed this sweet Pompano. |
