He is back, after having my computer down, what a nightmare. All my contacts, phone numbers and dates were there just no way to get to them so I purchased a new machine and will not have to think about it for the next five years.
Surf was the place to be with limits of Pompano catch's reported, clams preferred but they did eat a few sand fleas. Early it was Blue fish of cut baits and spoons after the sun was up for a few hours or how about mid morning that is when the Pomp's made a showing. From north to south we had reports of limit catch's and this was going on most of the day, I do believe they are here to stay. Yes a long cast but not that far a ten foot rod could reach easily that zone they were traveling. Big Whiting at your toes but the Pompano were just to easy. Few Mac’s and Flounder or two but it was Pompano that stole the show.
River anglers the Reds finally started to chew Sunday, wader in Herman's Bay found a bunch of slot size but it was the west side that anglers were the busy boys, soft rubber and shrimp top the bait list and it was an all day showing as long as the tide was moving the fish were chewing. Trout bite was slow starting I believe tit was the cold that kept them down but as the water warmed the fish moved but it was the Pompano that every one was looking for. Hells Gate, the channel at the base of Sewall Point, south end of the Sail Fish Flats, south side of the Stuart Causeway and a few made it to the bridges just not as many. Yes even in the North Fork we had reports just not a lot of time at any location, but if you were there you got your limit. Pompano? Pompano not sure why but every body sure love to catch them.
Well have to run I have a spot and I heard there were some Pomps in the area..............till next week............Henry
