04-19-11 TUESDAY: FISHNG HAS BEEN ON THE SLOW SIDE
It's going to be another gorgeous day at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 5mph and there is a light chop on the water.
Yesterday fishing was on the slow side. An oversized Red and a couple of catch and release Snook were landed in the morning hours. A big school of Jacks came through on the incoming tide and a couple of them were caught by anglers throwing lures. The evening hours were a little more productive with some more big Reds and C/R Snook. Ladyfish and Blues were active as well.
The duo were drifting a live shrimp on the incoming tide, off the south side of the north jetty last night when this 31 lb, 45" Black Drum took the bait. With no net in sight and nobody around, they kept the big Drum on the 15 lb braided line for about 20 minutes before getting it over the rails! Nice catch guys!
Reminder: Black Drum must be between 14" - 24" with a limit of 5 per day. You may keep one Black Drum over 24".
